Hallo! Wie geht's?
My name is Yvonne Mattson. I have been a professional translator and university German
instructor for almost thirty years, and I created "deutschdrang" to share some of the
materials I have created over the years. I have been privileged to meet some students who
have shown a genuine interest in learning German and have gone way beyond what was
required of them in the classroom. My site is aimed mostly at those kinds of students--people
who really want to learn and can never get enough practice materials. Although I have an
extensive collection of exercises that I have created and tested in my classrooms over the
years, they all need some kind of revamping and reformatting to be posted in a useable
format here. So please be patient while I continue to add materials to the site and check
back often. If you find a mistake or an outdated link, please e-mail me at
ymattson@deutschdrang.com. Danke und viel Spaß!
This site is dedicated to the memory of Ted Smentkowski,
who helped me understand what being a teacher is all about.
"The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak in different
kinds of languages and to another the ability to interpret those
languages. One Spirit, the same Spirit, does all these things,
and the Spirit decides what to give each person."
(1 Corinthians 12:10-11)
